STAR WARS: Episode VII, the Jet Li edition:

[Woman to right is Hero's ultimate lover --- a Mongolian Princess who often cross-dresses as a man! Old man to left is Zhang Sanfeng (ie. Luke Skywalker)]

Jet Li did a Heaven Sword & Dragon Saber adaptation a long time ago when VHS was still popular. Since it was a 2 hr movie, it's only a small 10% of the story (the whole story is 40 hours long!)

It's available on Youtube (full movie):

CANTONESE HD FULL VERSION (recommended, but no ENG subs): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVyaljjkgGY

ENG SUBBED LOW QUALITY FULL VERSION (not recommended, unless u can stand the low pic quality): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_23BWterUc

Who's in it?

Jet Li --- Rey Kenobi
Sharla Cheung --- a Princesss, Jet's ultimate lover
Gigi Lai --- Kylo Ren, Jet's childhood friend

It starts of with various factions fighting for the Dragon Saber (and Heaven Sword). They know they're something special, but they don't know the secret (the halves of maps hidden in their blades)...

Snoke does not have a major role in it b/c it's only a 2hr movie.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, since Kylo Ren was original a woman (ie. in the Jet Li movie), she fights with the Heaven Sword (the smaller bladed sword) b/c it's the Yin (female) sword of the pair of legendary swords...

At the start of the movie, the female cult that Kylo belonged to already possessed the Heaven Sword. They lost the Heaven Sword in scuffle with Luke, but the sword was eventually returned to their cult.

But they still need the other sword to complete the map, which is why they caused Rey's parents to suicide for not telling them where the other sword is.

Lastly, the Jet Li movie is not true to the story, just like how Peter Jackson had creative control over the Hobbit movies and they weren't anything like the Tolkien book (ie. Rey was supposed to be a wanderer grew up alone then reunite with Luke, but that never happened in the above movie...)

Characters in the Jet Li movie (left to right):

Finn (a Persian Princess in disguise) / Rey:

Kylo Ren's master (not Snoke; Snoke is a monk with shaved head and white mask) / Rey:

Rey's boyfriend / Snoke (in HSDS Rey's boyfriend belonged to an evil cult and colluded with Snoke, but deep down, his heart is good) / a Knight [of Ren?!?!]:

Kylo Ren (in Heaven Sword & Dragon Saber, Kylo's master isn't Snoke but the nun-like lady):

Luke:

Similarities to Disney's Episode VII:

1. See how Finn takes a beating for Rey's party (like how Kylo nearly killed Finn at the climatic lightsaber battle), but Rey ends up kicking Kylo's party's butt in the last 3rd of movie?

2. Last fight is duet between Rey + Luke vs the "Knights of Ren" will appear in SW Episode VIII!

I'm starting this thread for things you like the most/your hobbies/interests.

Doesn't have to be current interests, could be something you liked in the past.

And, I'm hoping everyone could keep it strictly a "picture/video thread" to keep the mystique, if possible. So, for starters:

Donnie Yen in ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

My favorite Donnie Yen moment isn't even Ip Man 1/2/3. But, the first time he appeared on the big screen, and he was the bad guy:

MY FAV DONNIE YEN MOMENT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-yjEGet_DY

Hope the highlight of ROGUE ONE is a showdown between Darth Vader and Donnie Yen's character. That would be most awesome. They could get a stunt guy to play Vader, who's well trained in martial arts, like Ray Park of Darth Maul fame...

Btw, in the above vid, they made the hero out to be a lecherous person. But that's not the case in the original story. He's more of a flirt than in the particular adaptation above...

I simply can't get enough of Condor/Jedi Heroes. This pair became engaged after starring in the show, so whatever romance appeared on the screen was real:

(Pic shows Luke Skywalker [having already lost an arm] and Padme. In the Condor Trilogy, Padme is Luke's wife, not Anakin's)

Btw, b4 anyone blasts me, so how come Luke didn't end up married by Episode VII? Episode VII is no longer based on Condor Heroes, but its sequel, Heaven Sword & Dragon Saber. And as I mentioned in another thread, Condor Heroes is 100 hours long. They had to cut and reshuffle characters (such as Padme belonging to Anakin's generation, rather than Luke's) for it to fit 12 hours total of movie time...

In the sequel Heaven Sword & Dragon Saber story, "Luke" is no longer alive, many generations have passed. But for continuity issues with STAR WARS, they simply gave Luke Skywalker a new role (of being the most powerful figure in that universe)... This exact role is fulfilled by another character in Heaven Sword with same aura around him as Luke, so it makes no difference to the story in the end.

Lastly, Leia never appeared in Condor Heroes, but its sequel. LucasArts inserted her into Condor Heroes b/c it maybe that they never thought to make more than a few movies when they began the very first STAR WARS script, which was Episode IV...

It occurred to me that this forum is still meant for stubborn XP-ers who may understand and share better than most the repressed anguish lying behind this longstanding nightmare of mine... ;)
