I think this unit is some weird corporate thing.
It wants to boot from the Ethernet if I have it plugged in. I can not change the boot order or devices. The setup does not have those options
What I have determined is that if I set the ata to sata ahci disable and use F12 I can boot from the hd. and my windows will boot up. However on the next boot it will not work. I have to turn on AHCI save and then turn it off again. Then I can F12 and boot it again.
I am going to try and flash the Bios tomorrow.
Enough for today.
I may end up just scrapping it. It was free anyway. It happens to be quicker and more powerful than what I am using now so I thought why not try and upgrade.
I think my issue now is the AHCI drivers. I can not get them installed therefore the machine will not boot up in AHCI mode.
I have been to Lenovo and downloaded the AHCI patch but it says it is not compatible with my machine when I attempt to install them
This is where I got them http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?DocID=DS002238
I have pretty much decided that I am going to scrap this machine. It is designed for an enterprise environment and I can't be bothered with this anymore as a home machine. It will go back on the pile of machine for recycling/shredding. A week of testing googling and formatting HDs is enough for me.
What I think is happening is a catch 22. The ahci won't install because I have it disabled in the bios and XP does not see it as a device to install drivers for. If I enable it in bios XP won't boot. I tried the slipstream using nlite and that did not work or I did not do it right.
