Xp boot problem

Hello to everyone,
This is my first post on this site,
I have a dell desktop running xp home edition
Last week green and red spots started appearing on screen followed by a blue screen the next day the three codes in the bsod indicated graphics card.
The machine then entered a boot loop with no access to safe mode

I have removed the graphics card and with a hirens boot cd have used mini xp to go into programs and delete those associated with the graphics card, can't get into control panel in c drive so unable to look at devices or add remove programs.
I bought a new graphics card which plugs and plays at low resolution the cd rom that came with it is not recognised , so using mini xp I downloaded the drivers from the manufac website and copied them into the programs folder . But this has not as yet been successful in installing the new graphics card.

So my question is how do I prevent my pc from looking for the old card which I think it's still doing as causing the boot loop to continue.
Any help would be appreciated

Go to System/Hardware/Device Manager/click on device manager, find Display Adapters and click on the down symbol. This will show which graphics card your system is looking for. If you see your old graphics card there and the new card, right click the old card and either select disable or uninstall.

Reboot and hope for the best.

Cheers from Aunty Jack.
