XP Boot problem

Hi , I've just cloned my backup of XP to a new hard drive , and when I try to boot I get nothing , just a cursor flashing , no Safe Mode . But I can boot using Hiren's disc if I click on the first option "Boot from Hard Disk" , then my XP boots up fine . Once it has booted I get a message "Can't find Launch Manager .exe" . but I think that's just an Acer program controlling Keyboard options.( I'm on an Acer Aspire 5315) Can anyone tell me what the Hiren's Disk is providing that is missing from my version of XP ? I don't want to start rebuilding things without any idea what I'm doing. I don't have any install/restore discs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hiren's is a boot disk for troubleshooting and/or removing your data safely before a clean install.

Was your clone disk made bootable?

Your second reply seems to say you have solved your problem, have you?
