Trouble booting up my windows XP on Lenovo w530

The first thing that stays on the screen is the boot menu.
I will include different things that appear after pressing control alt delete
Phoenix SecureCore tiano
Intel boot agent ge v. 1.5.50
Bios version g 5etb2 we 2.72

The on-screen messages are the boot and Bios.

I believe you have a hard drive problem. = The reason I believe this, is because your bios is looking down a predetermined list for something to boot from; And because it can’t, from anything on the machine, it is trying to boot from a network. That’s what “Intel boot agent ge v. 1.5.50” means.

I suggest you.
  1. go into bios and check that it is booting from the hard drive, as first choice. (Occasionally a computer will reset all settings because the because the CMOS battery is too low on power. If you bios says it is trying to boot from floppy, DVD or USB device, set it to the first hard drive, or whatever your operating is on. Then replace battery.
  1. If above does not work, disconnect and remove hard drive, give it a shake, replace and hope.
  1. If above doesn’t work. If possible, connect hard drive to another computer using a SATA to USB interface device and see if it works.
  1. Come back and tell us how it went and what you see in your bios.

I have to be honest. I couldn’t understand the first sentence.

As for you second sentence: If you get a boot menu on screen then your hard drive is probably working. You have gone past the bios at that point. I just assumed you couldn’t get to that point because you had pressed Ctrl alt delete.

For boot menu, you will need to take a picture of what you are seeing and post that. As I do not know what machine you are on and what you see.

If language is a problem, use Italian, but my Italian is very rusty (Not good)

Excuse the typos, I do not know how to find out what the bios is trying to boot from

On one of the pages thafly by before the computer stops at the boot meme reads
PXE E61 media failure check cable. Which flashes for only 3seconds. I do not have any cables attached

The boot menu has three choices, none of which boots the computer

ATAPI dvd

PCI lan I a be slot lockbox v. 1550

ATA haddock host ht572505da7e630”

PXE E61 media failure check cable = This error occurs when your boot sequence is misconfigured in your BIOS, or your boot device (usually your hard drive) cannot be read correctly.

ATA haddock host ht572505da7e630 = The host controller for your SATA drive.

You need to make sure that is at the top of the boot order. IE top in the list. Use curser to highlight and then set it first in boot order.

Photograph what you see and post that for any further help.

Your laptop does not support Windows XP. It came configured with windows 7 and up. If you are trying to instal XP that might be the problem. Otherwise, your Windows 7 to 11 machine. Has a hard disk or battery problem that I have explained.

I can take a picture of the boot menu, I know how to mail it to an email address, but do not how how to attach

I am sorry for my inexperience in this area. I appreciate your patience

This laptop was used for years as a backup using windows XP All of a sudden this happened. Before this it was a great computer

Yes it is either the hard drive or the Cmos battery, as I said in my very first answer. If you have so little experience, then removing a hard drive testing it or replacing the Cmos battery could prove problematic. I suggest a computer shop.

You post a photo on this Forum by clicking on the little Icon shaped like a photo and then dragging and dropping the photo. Do you see those little Icons above where you type?

Here is a picture of my Granddaughters cuddle toy.
