Protect myself from viruses

they said if you have your internet connection on, the website lists ip adresses of the PC which runs on xp, so how to do it?
First of all, don’t confuse IP Address with ISP (Internet Service Provider) in the following answer.

If you type the question in to Google.

Can a website see the IP of my computer?

You will get this response:

Every web user has an IP address – it's given to you by your internet service provider, and every device on your home network shares the same unique IP address. Pro tip: To find your IP address, simply Google 'my ip. ' When you access a website, that website can see your IP address.

This is a simplistic answer.

The reality = The website needs your IP address to feed you - the data you require. However it will see at best the IP of your Internet Service Provider modem that you have probably rented off them in the contract you agreed to. (That’s the box that plugs into your phone socket) Your computer will have a different Network address.

For instance:

This site XPForums.com has an IP address. To find it, you open up the command prompt.

Then you type: ping xpforums.com

It will return the following IP address 172.67.155.29

It is sitting on server space rented by GoDaddy.com

Now. There are lots of ways ones IP will not show up correctly or will be spoofed or if someone uses bounce-back; Or a proxy server; Or log through a personal VPN; Or if you have a rich friend, they may allow you to log into their system, through a hardware VPN on Broadband router like a Cisco etc and then use their IP address. And last of all there are the TOR aficionados. All very weird and not common (Done for security/politics etc).

For the majority of human beings, the following applies:

1. Most normal people have dynamic IP addresses that their ISP’s assign them, which can generally change periodically. It will almost certainly be a 4-section code as above.

2. Then there are strange people like me, who have a static IP that never changes. Tend to be far more expensive and many ISP’s will not offer. I use it because I had it for many years when I was working away all over Europe and needed to log in to my servers at home. Now keep it, so friends and daughter can log into my system and then surf the web through my system and leave no trace and be protected through my systems security.

3. The other main group of people are those that use a commercial VPN to mask their internet address. Feel free to read up on the following: They basically provide the service I do only people pay for it.
NordVPN
SurfShark
ProtonVPN
MulvadVPN
PrivateInternetAccessVPN
CyberGhostVPN

Question: So can a website see your ISP?
Answer = YES, but you can hide it with NordVPN etc.

Question: can the government trace me if I send the honest truth and personality breakdown about CIA, politicians and government personnel to their in-box, if I use a commercial VPN to hide my identity?
Answer = Yes in seconds. How long do think your average corporate techie will hold up under questioning.

Question: Can I undertake criminal activity using crypto and bouncing my IP address all over the planet after a couple of years learning code?
Answer = No you will be found in seconds if, or once they start looking for you.

The more important question for you is: Can my IP address be seen and is my Broadband router willing to talk to any old stranger trying to log in.

Press proceed.

Then click on All Service Ports.

If it says Passed TruStealth Analysis then you IP address is hidden from the internet in general and if someone pings it, it will not respond.

Regarding Viruses.

That’s something different. You get those by going to dodgy sites, like estate agents and such like and just downloading any old executable you see. These days it really takes some effort to get a computer Virus.

I haven’t personally used any anti-virus software in about 15 years. Because, I don’t need it, I am not an idiot.

For Antivirus choices for Windows XP there are two main options. I am sure other people will suggest some of their favourites. Like Mr Siamese Cat, I don’t personally use antivirus software.

Both of these antivirus programs below are still supported with virus definition updates.

AVG

Avast

Yeah, I only use 'on-demand' antivirus scanners and no 'real-time' - it slows things down too much. I prefer Rogue Killer and Quick Heal.

Oh and I did the grc test and I'm in "True Stealth Analysis" ... will post pictures.

I answered the question comprehensively, I thought you might have written. I understand that English is not your first language. So, I will try in a more appropriate way, in the correct age range.

Shodan HQ, they see your IP. They know everything you do. They tell your mum.

How would I know what you saw on Mutahar’s video? Did you break into my house, drug me, kidnap me, take me back to your mum’s house, prop me up and play Mutahar’s video? Again? You are forgetting, I was fast asleep.
