Patition problem

One of my partitions has disappeared from my desktop. I have gone into disk management and noticed the partition is there but no drive letter, the drive letter use to be G but I have suddenly got an extra cdrom drive with that letter.
I have two cdrom/dvd drives in my PC but in the disk management it says three drives.
It will let me change the drive letter on the extra cdrom but will not let assign a drive letter to the partition with all my data on.
Any advice would be most welcome

before any fixing I would insure your system is clean and free from infections:

Download, install, update and do full scan with these free malware detection programs:

Malwarebytes Free (MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/

SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

Remove all found, reboot, and run again until scans run clean, these can be removed afterwards if you so choose. Run scans one at a time, please.

what other scanners do you have installed??
