Noise in the A Drive

Good day.

I have what may be a dumb question but, I warn you in advance, I am not in any way a hardware expert. However, I would appreciate some assistance with my XP PC.

Suddenly today the computer wants to address the A drive (yes, I still have one) regardless of whatever action I want to do. If I try to open any apps it goes to the drive and makes a terrible noise until I shove a disk in it.

I have an external, Seagate backup and I attempted to do a full backup this afternoon. The problem seemed to have occurred after I attempted this.

Can anyone tell me if this is related? Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem?

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Noise In The Floppy Drive

Good day Elizabeth.

Thanks very much for your suggestion. However, mine is an XP PC. I can't follow the instructions in the link that you sent. Could we have another go please?

Many thanks again.

going into the bios can be done with xp and with any OS.

what is the make, model, and model number of your pc and I will look for exactly how to turn off your floppy.

BIOS can be accessed by del, F2 or F11 depending on your pc.

when you boot up and the manufacturer's logo comes up there should be a note there saying what to press to access setup/bios.
