Install on SD?

I have no idea if this the right place to post this, but I have a HP mini 1000 netbook with a bad hardrive. I want to run XP off of a 32gb sd card. I can get through the install fine, with the XP image burned to a usb, but it when I try to start up it is missing hal.dll. If I copy it over in recovery terminal it bluescreens, and it is deleted. I cant delete the boot.ini. It seems as if it is using the primary hard drive, which has very much failed.

when you burned an image, do you mean of the system already up?

In order to boot off of a usb, the usb has to be bootable, did you do this?

1. copy cd to desktop
2. download imageburn, create ISO file of xp copy
3. in imgburn, click advanced and choose make bootable
4. burn iso to usb using rufus

have you tried to install to your sd - you will see that it start ok as when your installing to a hard disk but within 5-10 depending on your pc - it stops with a BSOD 57B - that the microsoft way to tell you your not allowed to install on a disk
that is removable. - if you need more contact me on [email protected]
