J jacatone Aug 6, 2018 #1 I was getting low on hdd space, so I moved about 25GB of files to a backup drive, but my hdd doesn't show the freed space. I know in newer versions of Windows it does it automatically. How do I fix this in XP?

Elizabeth23 Aug 6, 2018 #2 what does it show in disk management? have you run a defragmentor? if you go to my computer and hover over local disk it will show free space in a balloon tip
